The SHOW BUDDY List is located on the Secret Garden Cast-Crew List
Here's the paper we're sending home:
SHOW BUDDIES: Each of your children were assigned show buddies this morning. Show siblings are assigned by me to help encourage older and younger cast members to build relationships. They also serve as FIRE buddies during rehearsals and at the theater.
Dear______________________, your show buddies are
__________________________________________________________.
This is an opportunity for you and your older/younger buddies to be an encouragement and helper to each other. Please do not let this just be a gift giving activity, but let it be a friendship full of encouragement and fun. Little notes or gifts and friendly words each time you see each other are strongly encouraged. Slip them an encouraging note or put together a little package with their favorite candies or other goodies in it. Maybe you could sit by each other after rehearsals when the directors give notes or stand by each other at cast meetings during shows.
Older Buddy: You are there for your little sibling to encourage them, be a helper to them in whatever they need, and the show them that you care. If possible, before a show check your younger buddy’s makeup, hair, and costume to see that it is okay. Help where they are struggling in dance numbers or learning lines. Just let them know you are there for them. Whether you are on or off stage be a friendly face, and an encouragement giver.
Younger Buddy: You are there to encourage your big bro/sis as much, if not more than they encourage you. Friendly notes, smiles and maybe their favorite candy bar will brighten their day, and truly be the encouragement they need. See if there is anything you can do to help them. Pray for your older buddy and let them know that you care about them.
Basically, the buddy system is a way to be an encouragement to each other, and to guarantee a great relationship with someone older/younger than you. Little gifts and notes are a great way to make rehearsals all the more fun and encouraging.
