Mary Lennox   Female, 10-13 years old, soprano/high alto. A lead character. Her transformation from selfish loner to vivacious, caring child is the major story line. Featured solos include "Nobody Knows" and "Little Bird," plus other duets. 260 lines

Dickon Sowerby Male, 12-16 years old, tenor/baritone. Confident, likeable boy who befriends Mary. An animal lover who may handle live animals. Solos: "Garden of Eden," "Keepin' A Secret", and "It's Spring."  100 lines

Colin Craven Male, 10-13 years old, alto/low soprano. Son of Archibald Craven & cousin to Mary Lennox. A spoiled, crippled hypochondriac who undergoes a transformation by the end of the story. Solos are "My Back" and "It's Magic."  175 lines

Mrs. Medlock Female, middle-aged to elderly, any voice, but able to hold four-part harmony. Head housekeeper. Stern, no-nonsense type.   130 lines

Martha Sowerby   Female, 16-20 years old, alto/low soprano.  Maid at Misselthwaite Manor, adds comic contrast. Solo is "Skippin' Song."  115 lines

Mr. Craven (Archibald) Male, middle-aged, tenor/baritone. Head of Misselthwaite. A tortured soul who also is transformed by the end of the story. Solo: "What Is It About Her Face?" 51 lines

Ben Weatherstaff Male, elderly, tenor/baritone/bass. Crusty old gardener.  75 lines

Mr. Pitcher Male, middle-aged to elderly, tenor/baritone/bass. The butler. Stern, proper and proud. Short solo; more actor than singer.  34 lines

Mrs. Sowerby Female, middle-aged, alto/soprano. Simple, earthy type, mother of twelve. Solo: "Fresh Air." Good character with a Yorkshire accent.  57 lines

Jane Sowerby Female, any age younger than Martha. Must jump rope in rhythm.  19 lines

Lizabeth Sowerby Female, small, young with some speaking parts spoken with a lisp.  7 lines

Doctor Craven Male 35-50, non-singing part. Villain; wants to inherit family wealth. 29 lines

Indian Servants Female/Male, any voice.

Manor Servants Female/Male, able to hold four-part harmony.

Gardeners Male, any age, any voice. Wisecracking bunch who sing & dance.  Small speaking parts to each gardener.

Sowerby Children Female/Male, any age, and voice. Must be able to dance.  Twelve children including Dickon, Martha, Jane and Lizabeth.

Lilia Craven Female 30's - soprano. The spirit of Mrs. Craven. Singing only.

Choir First soprano/Second soprano/Alto. Large singing choir that appears throughout the show as the subconscious of the characters n the past or future.  Ability to hold parts.
